No Love Games: Dinner Truths

Maddy was dressed in an African shirt that was mostly gold with other colors in it with a matching half top with her hair wrapped under a scarf of the same style and material. She didn't like that her hair had to be covered and that her grandmother was always making sure that it was tucked. What's wrong with my hair being down? Ugh. She shrugged thinking about it as she sat at the end of the table at the fine restaurant her grandmother had them driven to. She looked down the table at Licour, who was staring at her. She looked away and smiled at Nicki sitting next to her and her Daddy sitting next to her with Aiydan and Macy in high chairs next to him. She chuckled at Macy being jealous cause he got a high chair, so she pouted and silently shed tears until SB gave in and got her one too. Spoiled Brat. She looked to her other side, the left one, to the two empty chairs, her grandmother then Marquez, Linda and Licour and across was Layshun beside Macy. God I'm nervous.

About ten minutes later, a little boy dressed in African attire walked in with a strong sense about himself. His head was held high and as soon as Mady saw him, she was all smiles. Her Grandmother saw this and smiled even bigger than she was. Nicki looked him over and rolled her eyes. So this the little snot nose blacky taking my baby away from me? Looks like a little asshole. SB grabbed her thigh and rubbed it. She looked at him and instantly became calm at his touch. He laughed on the inside at her face twitching up. Thank God this calms her. Then there was a grown man who followed with a woman on his arm. They walked with their heads high as if they were superior to anyone in the place. The little boy came to the table and kissed Lou An's cheek then walked to Maddy and grabbed her hand and kissed it as she stood to her feet to return the kiss to his cheek. He waited until she sat down and took his seat. His dad sat next to him while his mother sat at the end of the table.

"Hi Yafeu [Yah FAY oo)."

"Hi Kaliah."

Nicki's head cocked to the side as they greeted each other. Who the hell is Kaliah? Did I miss the mother fucking memo that Maddy changed her name? Nicki got from the table and walked towards the restroom. SB looked over at the sadness washing over Maddy then looked back to Nicki. He put his hand on Maddy's shoulder and whispered that he'd be back and followed after Nicki.

"Is that your parents?"

"Yes, well we'll wait until they get back to make our announcement."

He smiled and Maddy smiled back. This sparked jealousy in Linda's envious heart. At the moment she despised Maddy. Why she have to be such a goody good? Always trying to please everyone else and never making mistakes or disappointing them. That's how she saw it, but if she thought about she was the good daughter other than her recent mistake. Maddy was just more of a heart winner and could charm her way out of trouble. Maddy and Yafeu whispered and giggled as his father had dinner served and another table added to their already full table of two. Who else is coming? Maddy looked towards the door and squeezed his hand as Marquez, Lily and some other people walked in. Yafeu leaned towards her ear and whispered to her.

"What's wrong?"

"Why are they here?"

"Because they're your real family and need to be here."

"My parents are right there, those people shouldn't be here."

She stated shaking as her Mommy and Daddy made their way back to the table. Nicki looked at the alarm on her face and followed her eyes to Marquez and Lily.

"Mommy that's the lady from church."

Macy pointed to a lady who walked in the room and sat at the table next to their grandmother with the same big hat. She smirked at Macy as she grew bashful. Nicki stared then it clicked and she turned to Maddy who had pulled away from Yafeu.

"What's going on, Maddy?"

"We're about to find..."

She said in a low tone. Yafeu stood up and smiled his charming smile and looked around the table then helped Maddy to her feet. She plastered a smile on her face as she looked around at the faces of the people before. Nicki leaned into SB as they waited for them to talk. Then everyone turned seeing Licour stand up. All three standing smiled then Licour spoke first.

"Today is the first of a good life for our dear, Maddy Amira Samuels, I, Licour Afi Samuels, will be giving her away in three months to Yafeu Akoo. I am excited to be her big brother and the man to give her away to her first and only husband. May you take your glasses and chime them for the young couple."

Nicki grabbed her glass and rolled her eyes as she clinked glasses with SB and Marquez then drank it down. I'm not ready for this shit. Then this fool has the nerve to fucking give her away like this is alright or some shit. Fuck? Maddy looked at her and sighed a little, but bounced back as Yafeu began to talk.

"Thank you, Brother and you may sit. I'm proud to say that I am a lucky man to have such a beautiful, smart and lively wife..."

This nigga known her for three days and talking about he lucky and acting like he know her? This is some fucked up shit and I have to sit here through this? Only for Maddy cause God know... Only God knows. Nicki thought coming back to reality.

"This last few days have been beautiful and full of life. Kaliah my dear, will you Marry me and provide me the answer in front of these witness of our parents and grandparents."

Maddy felt a shock of nerves come of her as she looked into the faces of her loved ones. She was happy and sad all at once. If I say yes then I'm leaving the comfort of my Mommy and Daddy, Macy and Aiydan, but if I say no then I'm here thinking what if? She let tears flow from her eyes as she stared at Yafeu now. This is for me, I can't keep living for everyone else.

"Yafeu, yes."

Nicki began to cry as the words left her lips. SB even let tears fall as he sat comforting Nicki. Wow, I can't believe she said yes? I didn't think it would hurt to see her leave like this, but it seems that she's happy with her decision. SB thought looking at the smile on her face.

"I want to say something.."

"Go ahead my beautiful bride."

"Mommy, Daddy, Macy and Aiydan... I love you guys so much and thank you for being my back bone, loving me, showing me and giving me a family. Nothing in this world could replace you guys or the love I have for you. I just want to experience home and my culture. I hope you understand?"

Maddy said as tears streamed down her face. She stared whole heartedly at her parents as they nodded in agreement. Yafeu and Maddy sat as the food came to the table and everyone had a plate put in front of them. This dinner was looking to be a long one and it would start for a turn right now as Marquez stood to his feet.

"I'm Maddy's real father and I want to say this is fucked up! Maddy you shouldn't be here, you're twelve. Go home and be with Nicki! This isn't what I wanted for you kids..."

"Get him out..."

"No let him talk!"

Maddy shouted over her grandmother. Yafeu jumped at her voice, but quickly put his brave face back on as he placed his fourteen year old hand on his wife's shoulder. She stared at grandmother as if to dare her to speak again.

"Maddy, I know I'm nothing like him over there, but I did and do love you kids, I knew this day would come, but I tried to prevent it. This is why I gave you to Nicki, I didn't think this bitch.."

He stated pointing to Lou An, who took his remark and stride.

"Would contact Nicki and blackmail her with money. You knew Lily didn't want this for her kids and neither did I! You just took the..."

"What?"

Linda stood to her feet and began to cry. She pointed to her grandmother and cold heartedly laugh. This bitch! I can't believe her.

"You You... You told me this is what mom wanted from us and that the only way I would get out of this is by having sex! You made me taint myself and disappoint my Mommy and I didn't have to! You bitch!"

Linda jumped across the table and clawed her grandmother's face before SB grabbed her and whispered in her ear. Nicki was mad at this point, but this wasn't her battle just yet. Maddy was saddened by this. She felt bad for Linda. Lou An stood to her feet and began to speak with a nasty taste to her tongue.

"You little nasty filthy Gyal! I didn't force you, you're just like your mother. Whore and you bring shame to this family. Maddy my princess would never and that's why made sure that Nicki took good care of her. One of you were going to get married wether you liked it or not, but I know you didn't want to and Maddy is a new flower and easily influenced by emotions, so I chose her!"

Maddy was hurt by her words as she began to shake out of anger. Lily sat sipping her tea and not giving a fuck like always. Maddy stared at her as she stared back. She was jolted out of her stare when Lou An began to talk again.

"Maddy, marry this fine boy and go be happy and rich in Ghana. Carry on our family name and don't shame us!"

"Okay.."

She said lowly as Yafeu gently squeezed her hand. His touch made her easy and she liked it. Everyone at the table sat quiet for awhile eating until Yafeu stood up and smiled at her.

"Lovely wife, I would like to see the kinks of your hair."

"Yafeu, no you shall wait until you guys are married."

"Why? I know it's a beauty."

"Yes, let my son see what is held on the head of this beautiful face."

Maddy smiled as she went to remove the scarf for the first time for him. Lou An groaned loudly as Lily giggled.

"Why do you laugh?"

"Shut up, Lily An!"

"No, Marquez and I win again."

"SHUT UP."

Maddy's curly hair fell on to her shoulder and Yafeu and his family took in strong gasps. He stepped back away from her and shook his head. He pointed to Lou An and spoke with a hard coldness in his voice.

"You LIED to me! Curse you!"

"You are trying to bring shame to my blood line, Lou An?"

"NO Sir, This is my priced Granddaughter."

"What's wrong with my hair?"

"She is not FULL GHANAIAN!"

"FULL! Sorry, the beautiful Maddy, but this courtship will not happen!"

The restaurant people all turned to Lou An who started to speak in Gonja mixed with French as Yafeu and his family left out the restaurant. Lily stood up and smiled big.

"You guys think I didn't love you, but I did. I did this for you guys because I didn't want you guys unhoppy like I was before I came here and met your father. He showed me love and gave me beautiful mixed kids that I knew those African son of bitches wouldn't want. Maddy, my baby, never let anyone make you small, especially this boys.. I saw his control of you and that's not what I want for you, stay strong and independent."

She grabbed her drink and threw at her mother. She gasped the cursed her out in her native tongue until Maddy stood to her feet and slammed her fist on the table. She looked at them.

"You both are selfish, Lou An you're the most selfish, piece of shit ever! You belittled my mother's character and even my Mommy's. When all along it was you! Don't ever as long as you live contact me or my Mommy! As for you, Mom, I love you and if you loved us why didn't you tell us? Why didn't you fight for us? You don't love us, you just wanted to get back at Lou An. Mommy, Daddy I'm ready to go home."

Nicki stood up and grabbed Aiydan and pulled Macy out of the chair. SB stood and picked Maddy up and smiled at her smile creeping across her face. No place like home and no love like family. Marquez laughed at their sour faces.

"You looney tunes just got swerved by a twelve year old."

Linda cackled with Layshun as they followed behind them. Licour shrugged then walked behind them out the door.

"This is not how this was suppose to turn out!"

Lou An yelled shoving food in her mouth. The owner then came by and told her to leave. This wasn't the end of her madness though.
